Accessibility Statement
Diversify wants everyone to be able to read, register and take part, whatever device or assistive technology you use. This page says where we stand, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
Conformance status
This site is designed and built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Level AA is the standard required of Norwegian public and private websites under the Regulation on universal design of ICT.
"Conforms" means we have built to the requirement and test against it; it does not mean we believe the site is flawless. Where we know of a gap, it is listed below rather than left unsaid.
What we have done
Accessibility decisions are made while designing, not audited in afterwards. In practice that has meant a small number of concrete commitments.
- Text is checked against a 4.5:1 contrast minimum — including large text, which is stricter than the standard requires — and the borders of form fields, where the outline is the only thing marking the field, against 3:1. Both light and dark appearance are tested separately.
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator that is not removed anywhere.
- Headings follow a real hierarchy so screen-reader users can move through a page by structure rather than reading it linearly.
- Forms use visible labels rather than placeholder text alone, and errors are described in words next to the field they belong to. The exception is our newsletter sign-up, wherever it appears: a single email field whose label is read by screen readers but not shown on screen.
- Tap targets on mobile are at least 44 by 44 pixels, and nothing depends on hover.
- Nothing animates, moves or auto-plays without the visitor starting it.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following, and each is scheduled rather than parked.
- Older PDF publications in our archive were produced before this standard applied and are not fully tagged. We provide an accessible alternative on request and are re-tagging them in date order.
- Photographs added to older articles may have generic alternative text. We are rewriting these as we revisit each article.
- Embedded video from third-party platforms carries the captions provided by that platform, which we do not always control. Where we produce the video ourselves, we caption it.
How we test
We combine automated checks with manual testing: keyboard-only navigation, screen readers on both desktop and mobile, 200 per cent text zoom, and a contrast pass on every new template.
Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real problems, so a page is not considered done until someone has actually used it without a mouse.
Enforcement
If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not satisfied with our response, you can report the site to the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digdir), which supervises the universal design requirements.
Tell us when something blocks you
If a page, form or document stops you from doing what you came to do, write to us. Say what you were trying to do, the page you were on, and the browser or assistive technology you use — that is usually enough for us to reproduce it.
We reply within five working days.
